Pinhole Portraits – creative.artistic.unique

Pinhole photography is one of the most basic forms of photography. It’s powerful, it’s magical and it will amaze you on the amount of creativity that can be created from a simple non- mechanical tool.

WHAT IS PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY?
Pinhole photography consists of a light-proof box, a pinhole which is the lens of the camera and film and/or darkroom paper which is used to record a desired image. Light from a scene passes through the aperture/pinhole and projects an inverted image on the opposite side of the box, which is known as the Camera Obscura effect. Capturing images using a pinhole camera is based on the property of light. In other words, time is calculated in reference to the amount of light that is present in a scene in conjunction with the size of the aperture/pinhole in order to get a correct exposure.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Complete stillness. You will have to prepare yourself to stay in complete stillness and this can vary between 20 seconds to 90 seconds per image. You will be surrounded by bright lights that are on constantly during the total exposure time required. These lights are warm and give off small amount of heat which may have you feeling warm.
